May 16, 2013 - Routine Skin Testing Available Again at Tuberculosis Clinic Starting May 20
The Pima County Health Department will again offer routine tuberculosis (TB) skin tests as of May 20 at the Tuberculosis Clinic, 2980 E. Ajo Way. The Health Department had temporarily suspended routine skin testing for TB as a result of a national shortage of the Tubersol solution.

As we observe National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), the Pima County Health Department would like to recognize local child care providers who have scored between 95-100 percent on their first immunization data report, which is a record of children immunized within their centers.
April 17, 2013 - Health Department Contacting Patients Regarding Potential Exposure to Blood Borne Infection
The Pima County Health Department is currently contacting 174 dental patients who were seen at the T Dental Clinic at 3662 W. Ina Road in Marana between January and July of 2010 because they may have been exposed to blood borne diseases like Hepatitis or HIV. This is a precautionary measure and at this time no cases of transmission of disease have been identified.
March 20, 2013 - Pima County partners in prescription discount card program
Pima County is sponsoring a discount prescription card designed to provide families and
individuals with significant savings on prescription drug costs.
The Coast2Coast Rx card is available to all residents for free, regardless of age, health
status or income. And while it is not insurance or designed to replace insurance, it is
particularly beneficial for individuals with no or limited prescription drug coverage.

Pima County partners with business to reduce tobacco use
In honor of American Heart Month, the Pima County Health Department would like to
remind smokers that it’s never too late to quit and there are resources to help.
Smoking doesn’t just affect the lungs and breathing. Smoking is the single leading
preventable cause of heart disease in the country, since smoking reduces oxygen in the
blood, increases heart rate and elevates blood pressure. In fact, more deaths can be
traced to smoking-related heart disease than smoking-related cancer.

Tucson, Arizona – January 10, 2013 – This season’s flu appears to be particularly virulent and health officials encourage people to take steps to protect themselves and their families, including getting a flu shot. So far during this flu season, which started in October 2012, Pima County has recorded about 150 cases, with cases continuing to increase statewide.Read more....

This report is a summary of the Pima County Community Health Assessment that was conducted in 2011, facilitated by the Pima County Health Department.
Health Department to Offer New Hours at Several Clinics
Pima County, Ariz. – In an effort to better serve the community, the Pima County Health Department is making several changes to clinic schedules.
New clinic hours include the following:
Effective September 24, 2012 the North Office at 3550 N. 1st Ave. will provide immunizations 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment or walk-in.
Effective October 1, 2012, the North Office will be reducing its Thursday evening clinics from every week to the second and fourth Thursdays of the month only. October evening
clinics will be held from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. October 11 and 25.
The South Office, located at 175 W. Irvington Road, now offers immunizations by appointment and walk-in from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours are offered the fourth Tuesday of each month until 6 p.m.
The East Office, located at 6920 E. Broadway Blvd., offers immunizations by walk-in and appointment 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and the third Saturday of each
month from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Pima County Health Department is pleased to offer the new Coast2Coast Rx Card
A prescription discount card to assist residents in saving money on medications. Anyone over age 18 can use a card and save between 40-75% on prescriptions. The card is accepted at over 59,000 pharmacies in the network, however it cannot be used in combination with insurance. It's intended to provide a discount on prescriptions that are not covered by your insurance. For more information or to get your free card, visit www.coast2coastrx.com
CPPW Final Report
The Pima County Health Department has published the following report summarizing the accomplishments of the 2-year Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) grant.
Pima County dog licensing now possible online (04/30/12)
Pima County residents can now license their dogs online. Pima Animal Care Center (PACC), which oversees the health and safety of dogs and cats throughout the county, now offers the option of using the Web to renew a dog license or apply for a new license.
